Credit Cards

Back to basics

If your debt is the result of your credit cards, maybe it is time to pay a little visit to the fundamentals. Unfortunately, in this country, not everyone knows how to properly use credit cards. People here just can't seem to get passed the notion that credit is not "free money." Credit cards can be very detrimental to your future and credit rating if you don't know what you are doing and if you don't use the card responsible. In order to prevent something like this happening again, we urge you to commit the following information to memory so that you can apply it to your life in the near future.

Treat the plastic like paper

The best approach to using credit cards is treating them like actually money. What we mean by that is that it isn't a good idea to make purchases you can't afford on plastic. A good rule of thumb is make purchases on credit that you are certain you can afford. Another great tip is to use credit cards in cases of emergency. Or perhaps you are better of with something like a debit card or a secured card.

The reason is because you are only hurting yourself with these astronomical interest rates sweeping the nation. Which brings us to our next point. Always be on the lookout for a better credit card. There is always a credit card that offers you better rewards and reasonable interest rates. Don't allow yourself to be taken advantage of.

One last but very important tip is to avoid the minimums. You should never resort to paying the minimums on credit cards because that is where interest sneaks up on you. Make it a habit of paying as much as you can to avoid further headaches down the line.
